LCC’s Congregational Site Toolkit

What is it?

Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC) is now offering website development and hosting services for LCC congregations. This service is free and includes a customized domain under LCC’s Network of Sites. You may also choose to use a domain that you have already purchased for your congregation. The free domain we can offer follows this template: www.congregation.lutheranchurchcanada.ca.

How does it work?

Step 1: To get started… Contact LCC’s Communications Director by email and provide the following:

  • Your congregation name and basic details (e.g. Address, contact info, service times, etc.).
  • A brief introductory blurb (Think of this as the “Welcome Message” for your website).
  • High-resolution photos of your church (These can include interior and exterior photos of your church building. You can also include photos from fellowship events or other occasions, as long as you have permission to include photos of members online).

Step 2: Learning how to manage your website… The congregational site template will be updated with the initial information you provided. A training session will then be scheduled to make sure you feel comfortable updating and managing content on your website. But, don’t worry, if any technical issues come up, we are here to help!

We encourage you to invite as many people as you’d like to this training session! It is much less daunting to manage a website if members of the congregation with gifts in communications (or those wishing to hone their skills) work together. A user profile and login information will be set up for anyone designated to manage your congregational website. If a congregation member has any WordPress knowledge it can certainly help, but it is not required. You will be supported and equipped to confidently manage your website.

Step 3: Customization for your congregation’s needs… At the training session, LCC’s Communications Director will work with you to integrate any specific features you may want to be included in your website, such as: Video or Photo Galleries; Video Categorization; and Written Sermons sharing options.

How do I sign up?

Sign up by contacting LCC’s Communications Director. Please include the requested information above as well as any questions you may have. You may be put on a short waitlist, depending on demand.
