Written by LCC pastors, these sermons are intended for congregations temporarily without a pastor. Each sermon is accompanied by the Collect of the Day, appointed Scripture Readings, suggested hymns, and prayers. Scripture Readings are from the Three-Year Lectionary Series of the Lutheran Service Book. Suggested hymns are from Lutheran Service Book: Hymn Selection Guide.

Because the date of Easter changes from year to year, its place on the calendar during a particular year determines whether there will be a greater or lesser number of Sundays during the season after Pentecost.

For the Three-Year Lectionary, each set of appointed readings is assigned to a specific seven-day period during the season after Pentecost and given a “proper” number. When Easter falls late, the proper numbers immediately following Trinity Sunday are skipped, and the readings resume with the proper number appropriate to the seven-day period.

As such, the documents for the season after Pentecost require updates every three-year cycle. Please note that while the documents for the current Sunday (and roughly the month ahead) are kept accurate for the current church year, searching further ahead or outside the given church year may return documents whose proper numbers—and the corresponding content tied to those proper numbers—have not yet been updated.
