Our Background

Living Waters Chinese Christian Ministry in Vancouver is a confessional Lutheran Church–Canada mission of Mandarin and Cantonese speaking people living in the New Westminster, Ladner, Delta, Tsawwassen and White Rock areas. In addition to worship services, the ministry also provides Bible Studies, ESL programs, and fellowship opportunities for its members and beyond.

The ministry began in 2010 when Rev. Dr. Wing Yan (David) Leung and his wife April, teachers in a Chinese school, began as volunteer missionaries reaching out to Chinese people in the community. They formed home Bible Study and ESL groups, and then Chinese Lutheran worshipping communities in New Westminster, White Rock, Ladner, Tsawwassen and Delta areas with the financial support of LCC Missions.

Our Ministry

Pastor Leung and his wife, April, continue to serve this mission today, most notably serving separated immigrant Chinese families, where the father continues to work in China or Hong Kong, and supports his wife who is living in Canada with children or college students.

With the support of LCC, these worshipping communities continue to meet in restaurants or homes for fellowship meals, Bible Studies, and prayer under the guidance and leadership of Pastor Leung. The ministry has impacted the lives of the immigrant Chinese community in the Lower Mainland of BC through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, with nearly all members being conversions from Buddhism and Confucianism to the Christian faith.
