Our Background

Initially starting out as a small group of people gathering for prayer and Bible study in 2019, the group was officially established as a mission congregation by Lutheran Church–Canada in 2021. The congregation, which previously met in members’ homes or via Zoom, was assigned a place of worship and members gathered for their first official service as Oromo Evangelical Lutheran Church of Vancouver in September of 2021. The congregation has connected closely with Faith Lutheran Church (Surrey, BC) who has been graciously hosting them.

Our Ministry

Oromo Evangelical Lutheran Church of Vancouver is a confessional Lutheran mission congregation of Afaan Oromo speaking people living in the Vancouver area. In addition to worship services, the congregation also provides Bible study and fellowship opportunities for its members and beyond.
